Learn about Columbus: Things to Do in Columbus, Ohio

Companies often tell us that they need help with marketing the thriving workforce, great neighborhoods and many things to do in Columbus Ohio to prospective employees. The Chamber has worked with human resource and the recruiting community to develop a portal (liveworkplayColumbus.com) that catalogues information and external links for individuals and their families who are considering a move to the Columbus Ohio Region.

The site is divided into three main sections: live, work and play. The Live section provides information and links to pages focused on neighborhoods, education, housing, healthcare and diversity. The neighborhood page features a “neighborhood selector” that allows a user to select attributes that are important in his or her choice of community. The Web site then returns a list of communities that best fit his or her criteria along with a description of each neighborhood, what the area is known for and links to additional resources specific to that community.

The Work section is a great resource for individuals who are looking to make a job move in the Columbus Ohio area. Under the work section, users will find information on the region’s economy, a list of our largest employers by sector, and links to local employment Web sites.

The Play section provides information about all of the fun things to do in Columbus Ohio. The site provides links to local arts and culture venues, a list of entertainment spots including shopping, sporting events, community festivals and other unique attractions, and an impressive list of recreation opportunities including parks, golf courses, swimming pools and more.

One of the most attractive features of the site is the “map it” function. This interactive map, found on most pages, helps users become oriented to the region and allows them to find parks, colleges and universities, neighborhoods, large employers and other fun things to do in Columbus Ohio. By the end of the year, the site will also provide the human resource and recruiting community with the ability to send personalized newsletters using information from the site. Additional functionality allows users to suggest content for each page and access cost of living information. This resource was developed in partnership with JPMorgan Chase.
